Artist Statement

We all get frustrated from time to time and it is perfectly normal. You feel frustrated when everything seems to be going wrong or is not what you expected and there seems very little you can do about it. We all have ups and downs to life. How do you deal with the downs? Do you numb yourself and avoid them?

Mywall is an interactive installation where users are able to interact with the wall projection by using the infrared marker pen to draw and write on the wall. The projection wall will create graffiti as background behind after the audience done their drawing or writing. The art of graffiti does not necessarily mean that you can create only urban and funky design on the projection wall, you can just draw or write anything to express your frustration through the medium of graffiti conversations. Graffiti is the act of inscribing or drawing on walls for the purpose of communicating a message to the general public. To avoid vandalism, this is why I would like to create an interactive wall.

This installation is aimed to allow audience to vent out their frustrations, sadness, and anger that arise as a normal part of growing and a healthy life, to express your frustration through graffiti but does not cause any crime.

Technical part (new)

I plan to use Wii Remote to for this installation.

This is my diagram design for my installation.

The projector is to connect the computer.
The projector will be place at the highest place, to avoid the shadow blocking the screen.
By pointing a wiimote at a projection screen, the spray can can interactive with the projection on the wall.

Replace the ink stick with little light buld

The Wiimote can track sources of infrared (IR) light,so I will try to put the infrared light (IR) inside of the market pen, so the Wii mote can track marker pen that have an IR led inside the can.

This video will show how to create an infrared pen.

1. The projection will randomly showing the wall texture on the white board.

2. The audience can express their feeling by draw or write on the white board by using the infrared marker pen

3. After the audience done with their drawing or writing, the background will fade in the graffiti, like growing effect.

Mind map for Frustrations

The meaning of Frustrated means having a feeling of or filled with frustration, dissatisfied.

Everyone is frustrated by different things - task or people focused, large-scale or small.

You can solve some of the little frustrations start by letting people know your problem. 

For my installation, I am thinking to create a interactive wall, let people vent out their feeling toward the wall by writing or drawing.

This is another "solution"to vent out the frustrations, sadness, and anger that arise as a normal part of growing and a healthy life : express your anger through graffiti.
